Happy holiday weekend, everybody!
This is our 7-year-old Old English Sheepdog, Hrothgar. Isn’t he handsome?
Gar has been sick this week, which put a bit of a kink in our Labor Day plans. We’re staying home instead of driving to Pullman to spend the long weekend with Phil’s folks. Even though Gar is on the mend, he’s too sick to be away from home right now (and much too sick to spend 6 hours in the back of Phil’s Jetta). This got me thinking about all of the people looking for entertainment this weekend. Whether you’re at home with a sick kid (or pet), had to cancel plans because of unfavorable weather, or would simply rather spend a low-key weekend at home, I have collected some great boredom-busters from around the internet to keep the whole family entertained and happy.
Soda Can Coasters via The Idea Room
75 TV Free Activities For Toddlers via No Time For Flash Cards
Homemade Finger Paints via Easie Peasie
Rent one of these Ten Fantastic Films Based on Children’s Books
Get cooking! Beat the Autumn chills with Potato Bacon Soup via CBSOP
Or bake up some yummy white chocolate bars via Ciao Bella!
Don’t forget the number one boredom-squashing activity here at Youth Literature Reviews: curling up with a good book! How do you plan to spend the rest of your long weekend? Let me know in the comments!

Aww! He is handsome!! Great round-up of ideas!!
Thank you!
