Last week, I shared some of my favorite picture books about winter. Today I’m rounding up some great winter-themed chapter books for ages 9-12!

Don’t forget to leave a comment at the bottom telling me your favorite wintery read!
The Long Winter by Laura Ingalls Wilder
Breadcrumbs by Anne Ursu
A stunning re-imagining of Han Christian Andersen’s The Snow Queen.
Mr. Popper’s Penguins by Richard and Florence Atwater
The Winter Room by Gary Paulsen
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis
Icefall by Matthew J. Kirby
Because of Mr. Terupt by Rob Buyea
Bonus: Winter-Themed Books for Teens
Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow by Jessica Day George
A re-imagining of the Nordic fairy tale East of the Sun, West of the Moon.
I can’t believe it’s been a week since my last post! Things have been a little chaotic (in a good way) these past few days. Hopefully I can get back to posting 3-4 times per week (at least).

Nice list! I also loved The Endless Steppe as a child and Breadcrumbs by Ursu is great too!
Thank you! I haven’t read The Endless Steppe but I will definitely check it out.
I loved The Long Winter (and all the other Little House books), I can’t count how many times I’ve read it!
Great list!

The Little House books (especially the first one) were favorites of mine, too.
That is a nice list! I remember reading a couple of them, and falling in love. I also like the book, Gideon’s Gift, by Karen Kingsbury.
Thank you so much for stopping by and commenting!
Ooh… Have you read Breadcrumbs? I’m curious about that one – I’ve seen it before. Thanks so much for hosting (permanently) the Kid Lit Blog Hop!
I see you have it as the book of the week – does that mean you are currently reading it?
Usually the Book of the Week is just a book that I’m recommending that week – but in this case, yes, I am currently reading it!
Thanks for such a cosy winter reads list. I am very interested in Icefall and Because of Mr Terupt, I have read lots of rave reviews. Thanks so much for visiting and hopping over to my blog this morning. Great to hear you have joined as a permanent host on the hop. Looking forward to your reviews and recommendation. Best Wishes, Julie
These look great! I haven’t heard of some of these, but I just recently read and reviewed “Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow.” I loved it, and I agree that it was a great winter read!
I will have to add some of these to my wishlist. Now I want to read “Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow. Thanks! Hopping on the Kid Lit Blog Hop!
Thank you!
Great list and a few I haven’t yet read (I do love winter books!) I also enjoyed Trapped by Michael Northrup – great for teens with adventure/survival.
