Big news for Harry Potter fans! To celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Harry Potter series, Scholastic will be releasing new paperback editions of the books with brand new covers!
The artist behind the new cover art is Japanese-born graphic novelist Kazu Kibuishi, author and illustrator of the Amulet series. Even though the new versions won’t be released until September of this year, Scholastic has released the cover for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
. Take a look!

What do you think?

I Love the new cover, it’s beautiful, can’t believe it’s already 15 years!
I know! It makes me feel old.
ha!ha! yes! me too right now!
Oh… I love the new cover! Takes you right into Diagon Alley!
I was so thrilled to see this because the Diagon Alley scene was one of my favorite parts of the first book!
Mine too! I also love pretty much every scene in the Great Hall, such fun!
I love the new cover. Makes me want to start another reread.
Same here!
Wow! 15 years already?!! Happy bday to Harry Potter and gang! Thanks for the heads up!!
No problem!
I love the new cover it captures the feel of the book and the movie to me.
Cant believe it has been so many years!
Fifteen years already?! Wow that’s nuts. I’m glad they kept the same font, though I wish there was more of a focus on Harry. Still, the actual artistry looks nice!
Good point. Harry isn’t as much of a focal point as he is on the old cover. It has me wondering what the rest of the new covers will look like.
Anyone know if there will be new chapter illustrations inside as well?
From what I’ve read, I believe that only the covers will be new, not the illustrations. And only the trade paperback edition will change; the hardcover editions will keep the original covers and illustrations.
It’s a lovely cover and I like that they’re keeping the originals in publication too. I’ve just written about this for The Illustration Machine (my local publisher) where I guest post-http://illustrationmachineblog.com/2013/02/20/celebrate-harry-potters-15th-birthday/
