Dancing to a Different Beat

Giraffes Can’t Dance (©1999) written by Giles Andreae and illustrated by Guy Parker-Rees tells the tale of Gerald the giraffe. Gerald is quite tall and extremely awkward. When the annual Jungle Dance rolls around, Gerald is nervous. Everyone knows Giraffes can’t dance!

Everything about this book is so inviting. The rhyming story features a diverse vocabulary and a sweet message about being different. The vibrant, colorful illustrations include lots of different animals doing many different styles of dance.

Any way you look at it, Giraffes Can’t Dance is a winner.

I recommend this book for children ages 6 and under.
